The Hengist Restaurant & Cocktail Bar: A Culinary Gem in Aylesford

Absolutely amazing the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. We come in with our 2 year old daughter and they are very good with her always have a chat. We have done the grill night the roast, normal menu and the breakfast all exceeded our expectations highly recommend

Possibly the best roast dinner I have ever tasted. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and so delicious. The beef was outstanding , veg and the cauliflower cheese was cooked to perfection. The staff are so welcoming and efficient. Will definitely be back soon.

The new owners have made this a really lovely and enjoyable place to have a meal or an amazing cocktaill. The seating inside is very plush and different or there is plenty of seating outside in their lovley garden next to the river. Some of the outdoor seating is covered in case it rains.

Amazing lunch time meal with family. I had the hengist burger and it was good quality meat and delicious fries. Other members of my party had the haddock and chips and the pork belly and they said it was excellent too with good crackling. Id like to shout out our server Tina, as she provided excellent service and was really fun too Would 10000% recommend

Really fantastic Sunday roast sharing platter, brilliant selection of mocktails and puddings. Staff and management were excellent.

My partner and I visited The Hengist twice in one week recently, despite being local we still hadn’t visited since the re-opening. The first time was straight after our legal wedding with just our parents for lunch and the second on grille night, both times were straight up 10/10. The cocktails are a work of art and the food was faultless. We were served both times by Ollie and he’s not only hilarious but incredibly accommodating. You pay for quality and that is what you get, we will definitely be back soon!

Been twice for brunch recently and had a great meal both times. Very nice vegetarian options for breakfast - no soggy tofu or mushrooms. Pancakes had plenty of syrup. Only gripe would be the pot of tea for two doesn't get filled up completely so you only get about 2.5 small cups. Using the locals discounts is great and I like that I can bring friends/family with dogs here and go for a walk along the river after. Have booked again for afternoon tea.

We have revisited this restaurant after many years. It has changed hands and is now under new management. And what a difference! The atmosphere is very live and vibrant. Great cocktails, uniquely presented. Food was delicious and of very good quality. During our dinner we were asked if we wanted our caricature done by a professional artist. This was absolutely free and great fun. Overall we had a great time, will definitely return.
